Supporting users to understand the data transformation and analytical methods verbally and visually

Problem

Visual Analytics supports users to gain insights into complex data sources by providing intertwined interactive analytical and visual methods. Usually, analytical methods and  algorithms are applied to transform raw data into another structure. Such transformations may be simple or complex and are applied in many steps. Users typically need to understand these algorithms (at least to some degree) to interpret the data and check correctness of such transformations. One of the explored options to ease such understanding is to provide examples automatically and to provide annotated descriptions of the processing that took place. These descriptions could be verbal or visual, but need to ease the understanding of the algorithms as well as explore the different parameter settings, etc.

Aim

You should provide a systematic overview of existing approaches in scientific literature to ease the understanding
of data transformation and analytical methods verbally and visually

This topics can be tackled as seminar work to provide the systematic overview of the state-of-the-art literature or  may be extended for a  project, bachelor or Master thesis designing, implementing, and evaluating interactive research prototype.
