Most of the data and information we are dealing with is related to time. Due to the distinct characteristics of dimension of time, appropriate visual and analytical methods are required to explore and analyze them. The new book "Visualization of Time-Oriented Data" (Springer, 2011) by Wolfgang Aigner, Silvia Miksch, Heidrun Schumann and Christian Tominski is devoted to a systematic view on this topic and the first of its kind. It is aimed at scientists as well as at practitioners seeking information on how their time-oriented data can best be visualized in order to gain valuable insights.

Die meisten der von uns verwendeten Daten und Informationen sind zeitbezogen. Aufgrund der besonderen Charakteristika der Dimension Zeit sind spezialisierte Methoden zur Visualisierung und Analyse erforderlich. Die AutorInnen Wolfgang Aigner, Silvia Miksch, Heidrun Schumann und Christian Tominski widmen sich in ihrem neuen Buch "Visualization of Time-Oriented Data" (Springer, 2011) als erste systematisch und umfassend dieser Thematik.
