A Comparison of Static and Dynamic Visualizations for Time-Oriented Data
Animation is a promising approach to visualize time-oriented data, as it allows users to follow the development of data over time like a video player. We have developed a visualization tool for animated scatter plots, which – for example – can show the development of medical parameters for a group of diabetes patients. Even though user representatives like the tool, a systematic evaluation is needed to assess its effectiveness.
Perform a controlled experiment to compare animated scatter plots with a non-animated visualization technique.
