We are seeking for a highly motivated PhD candidate in the field of Visual Analytics, Information Visualization, visual Data Mining and Interaction Design in the Laura Bassi Center of Expertise (LBC), Centre for Visual Analytics Science and Technology (CVAST), which is established at the Institute of Software Technology and Interactive Systems, Vienna University of Technology, Vienna, Austria.
Since middle November 2014, IEG/CVAST member Bilal Alsallakh is a visiting Research Fellow in the Visual Computing Group at Harvard University, led by Prof.
As of November 2014, Dr. Tim Lammarsch is an Assistant Professor at Modul University Vienna.

Silvia Miksch was invited to the annual conference of the German Informatics Society (INFORMATIK 2014) as one of the keynote speakers at the workshop on Big Data Visual Computing.

The workshop took place in Stuttgart - Germany, on 22-23 September 2014.
On September 3rd 2014, CVAST / IEG member Bilal Alsallakh successfully defended his PhD thesis titled:
"Visual Analytics of Large Homogeneous Data - Categorical, Set-typed, and Classification Data".
