Network Traffic Visualization
Problem
As networks become ever more complex, monitoring and securing them becomes more and more difficult. Visualization can be used to uncover hidden patterns of data, identify emerging problems, vulnerabilities and attacks, and respond decisively with countermeasures.
Aim
You should provide a systematic overview of approaches for visual exploration of network traffic data (both scientific work and commercial products). A special focus of this survey should be the visualization of network traffic data that records network traffic on the packet level (e.g., NetFlow). When choosing this topic for a project or bachelor thesis, a concept for interactive visual exploration of network traffic data should be designed and implemented as a prototype.
